The home has three bedrooms (sleeps 6) of which one is en-suite.
Viskraal is in walking distance from the beach, restaurants, shops and pharmacy.
Paternoster is home to a theatre, Die Koelkamers, a wine and tasting lounge, the renowned Panty Bar, as well as numerous restaurants, shops, and a pharmacy. This charming locale is one of the oldest fishing villages along South Africa's West Coast, located 15 km from Vredenburg and 145 km north of Cape Town, at Cape Columbine, nestled between Saldanha Bay and St Helena Bay. The town spans 195 hectares and has approximately 1,883 residents.
The origin of its name remains uncertain. Many believe that "Paternoster," meaning "Our Father" in Latin, refers to prayers said by Catholic Portuguese sailors when they were shipwrecked. An old map by Pieter Mortier mentions St. Martins Paternoster, suggesting the name could also be derived from Paternoster Row in London, located near St. Martins Court. Others think it relates to the beads worn by the Khoi tribe, known as Paternosters.
The area experiences most of its rainfall in winter and boasts a Mediterranean climate, conducive to the growth of the wildflowers for which the West Coast is famous. This region teems with fascinating marine and wildlife, providing opportunities for whale, dolphin, seal, and penguin watching, as well as birdwatching, with over 225 bird species recorded.
Spring transforms Paternoster into a floral paradise, with wildflowers carpeting the landscape, forming the southwestern edge of the renowned Namaqualand flower carpets. Visitors can explore the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, covering 263 hectares along the rugged coastline, which features various picnic spots and braai facilities. The Cape Columbine Lighthouse, built in 1936 on Castle Rock, is the last manually operated lighthouse in South Africa, casting a beam visible from about 50 km away and often serving as the first lighthouse seen by ships arriving from Europe.
