Westridge Gardens
Westidge Gardens has long been the closest and most convenient public open space for residents of Mitchells Plain to enjoy family picnics, take wedding pictures or simply get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The addition of the new Rose Garden to this public open space creates an even more attractive environment. The City of Cape Towns Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services, Councillor Brett Herron, officially opened a Rose Garden at City Parks Westridge Gardens in Mitchells Plain on the 19 April 2011. City Parks is extremely proud of the fact that Westridge Gardens is now one of Cape Town's flagship facilities. The gardens are beautiful, peaceful, well-kept and well-utilised by the community and the counsel regard this park as a bench-mark for future improvement projects.
The public open space in Westridge Gardens can be hired for events and small functions and is frequently used for weddings and childrens parties. There are demarcated areas for various activities including; A skateboard park, a childrens play area which includes facilities for children with physical disabilities, park benches for relaxation and vast open lawns and trees for free play. Take the N2 (Settlers Way) towards Somerset / Muizenberg. Take exit 11 to merge onto Jan Smuts Drive / M17. Turn left onto Klipfontein Road. Continue straight to stay on Klipfontein Road. Turn right onto Vanguard Drive. Travel along Vanguard Drive, Turn left at the 4 way robot of Morgenster Rd (theres a shopping complex on the left), Turn right at the forth robot into De Duin Rd, The park is on the right after the Council Depot.
