Post House Wines - Somerset West, Cape Town

Post House Wines is a boutique winery located in Somerset West, near Cape Town, South Africa. The winery is situated on a historic farm that dates back to the early 1820s. Its name, Post House, originates from the building’s past use as a post office where mail was sorted for the surrounding area. This heritage is reflected in the winery's branding, with many of its wines named after postal themes.

The Post House farm was acquired by the Gebers family in 1981. Initially, the property was used for general farming, but in 1988, Nick Gebers began planting vineyards, shifting the focus toward viticulture. By 1996, the first vintage of Post House Wines was produced, and since then, the winery has been recognized for its handcrafted, minimally-intervention wines.

The winery follows a traditional winemaking philosophy, using natural fermentation methods and limited filtration to allow the true character of the grapes to shine. Post House specializes in robust red wines and blends, with their Merlot, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon being highly regarded, as well as producing excellent dry white wines.

Post House Wines are known for their depth and complexity. Wines such as Penny Black (a Bordeaux-style red blend) and Blueish Black (a Shiraz-based blend) are popular, along with the Stamp of Chenin Blanc and Post House Pinotage.
