Chalet 10, Meerensee is a self catering property in Fisherhaven, about an hour's drive away from Cape Town International Airport and 6km outside Hermanus on the R43. It is situated within the beautiful Botriver Nature Reserve and is part of a gated, access controlled complex. The private, gated estate offers excellent security, especially for a family with kids, and visitors can also enjoy the large swimming pool, children's pool, play area and two tennis courts at the clubhouse.

The chalet is very close to the lagoon and access to the beach is via a wooden footbridge.

The bird life around the lagoon is abundant, including flamingos, pelicans, oystercatchers and terns, so don't forgot your binoculars! A troop of about 26 wild horses can regularly be seen free roaming around the lagoon. The lagoon is also great for small boat sailing, wind surfing and kite boarding.

The property has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a spacious living / dining / kitchen area.

Bedroom 1: The main bedroom features a double bed, built-in cupboards and an en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. There is also a flat-screen TV and CD/DVD player.

Bedroom 2: Double bed, built-in cupboards, separate family bathroom with bath, shower and basin, separate toilet.

Bedroom 3: This is an ideal room for children, featuring two double bunk beds, accommodating four people, built-in cupboards and an en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. There is also a flat screen TV and CD / DVD player with a small library of DVDs and CDs for everybody's enjoyment.

Towels and bed linen are provided.

Kitchen: A modern well-appointed kitchen with oak cupboards, an island with beautiful granite top and bar stools seating 10 people. Cooking facilities include a gas hob with two plates, a ceramic electric hob with two plates, extractor fan, an electric oven and microwave. The American fridge / freezer features an icemaker and cold water dispenser. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. A stainless steel faced indoor barbeque with gas fire-starter, ensures that you can braai even during rainy and windy weather!

Open plan lounge: Sliding lounge doors with stunning views over the lagoon, sea and mountains. Facilities include a large flat screen TV, DVD / CD player, surround sound, SONOS music system. Wi-Fi is also available on a subscription basis. The lounge also features a modern wood burner for a cosy evening in! DSTV is available on request for an extra fee.

Patio: Wooden bench seating and integrated table, eight garden chairs, umbrella and a separate mobile barbeque (no wood supplied). The patio and lounge are west facing, ensuring a fabulous view of sunsets - the perfect place for sundowners!

Surrounding area: Hermanus is considered a great Garden Route destination with wonderful restaurants, a market place, interesting shops, fantastic coastal walks and even a Whale Festival in September! Visitors have seen the Southern Right whales as well as dolphins close to the beach at Meerensee.

Fancy some wine tasting? The Hemel en Aarde valley, just outside Hermanus, is very well known for its vineyards and boutique wineries. Gansbaai, about 30 minute drive away, offers cage diving with sharks.
