Nahoon Accommodation - Eastern Cape, Amatola & Stormberg

Famous throughout the South African surfing community for producing some very impressive waves, and host to many national surfing competitions, magnificent Nahoon Beach runs kilometres to the north, and to a rocky point to the south, which has a constructed boardwalk reaching all the way round to Nahoon Corner, giving one a bird's eye view of the famous East London, Nahoon Reef dive spot. With lots of crevices and swim-throughs, Nahoon Reef is an exceptionally beautiful area with lots of reef and sand areas, best explored when the sea is flat and calm after low tide.

Adventure through the Nahoon Point Nature Reserve - a 2.6km stretch of pristine Eastern Cape, East London coastline which sports a network of boardwalks that protect the fragile dune field, and leads you to a lookout point where you can see Bat’s Cave, where ancient fossil footprints were discovered. Nahoon Point Nature Reserve's educational centre designed in the shape of a footprint, uncovers the treasure trove surrounding the hoof marks, bird tracks and human footprints on the roof of East London Bat’s Cave. There’s also a display focusing on East London’s famous surfing culture, and the history of shark attacks in the Nahoon East London area.

Named after a local Xhosa chief, Nahoon has been developed around the picturesque Eastern Cape, Nahoon Beach, East London's most popular beach which is safe bathing for those who don't want to brave the surf. The shallow, clear estuary created where the Nahoon River flows into the sea is an ideal swimming area, or just for relaxing or taking a leisurely walk along the waters edge. The Nahoon River is also popular for paddling, water skiing, and is also a favourite Eastern Cape fishing spot.
