African Spirit Game Lodge, situated 12 km's west of Mkuze, invites guests to experience true luxury and warm African hospitality. The lodge is personally managed by the owners, Henk & Liezle Brink and is magnificently set in the heart of Zululand. The lodge is situated within the Zululand Rhino Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, against the backdrop of the Lebombo Mountains.

Zululand Rhino Reserve is an endangered species reserve of 24 000 hectares. It was recently proclaimed as a nature reserve and received international recognition for the introduction of 28 black rhino in 2005, as well as introducing lion onto the reserve, which has made it a BIG 5 GAME RESERVE. The reserve has over 70 mammal species and among them are elephant, white and black rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, wild dog, spotted hyena, brown hyena, cheetah, African wildcat, serval, lynx, black back jackal, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, nyala, impala, common reedbuck, warthog, waterbuck, bushpig, red & grey duiker, steenbuck, bush buck, mountain reedbuck, ostrich, red hartebeest and diverse birdlife of over 450 species.

Self-catering:

We have two self-catering units available (sleeping 6 and 4).

Self-catering: 6-Sleeper unit: “Idube House”

Our 3 bedroom unit has a spacious comfortable lounge area with a separate dining area, fully equipped open plan kitchen with electric stove, microwave oven and fridge/freezer. All linen, bedding, bath towels, toilet paper, kitchen utensils, crockery and fire wood is supplied. Please refrain from making all night “bon fires” We supply a generous amount of firewood but will charge if we need to fill up every day. A TV and decoder are available with Easy view channels. If guests want full DSTV, please bring your own card and decoder. It has its own outside barbeque area and weber. Please bring your own swimming towels as well as charcoal and firelighters. The closest town to buy supplies such as cigarettes are Hluhluwe and Mkuze.

1st Bedroom: 2 x single beds, separate bathroom and toilet (bath and shower)
Family room: 2 x twin beds with 1 x single bed and en-suite bathroom (bath and shower)
3rd Bedroom: 1 x Double bed with en-suite bathroom (shower, toilet and basin)
There is also an extra single bed in the lounge for 1 person.

Self-catering: 4-Sleeper unit: “Intibane unit”

This unit has two bedrooms with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom (showers only). It consists of a fully equipped open plan kitchen/lounge. All linen, bedding, bath towels and toilet paper are provided. It also has its own barbeque area. Firewood is provided. Please refrain from making all night “bon fires” We supply a generous amount of firewood but will charge if we need to fill up every day. Please bring your own swimming towels as well as charcoal and firelighters. A TV and decoder are available with Easy view channels. If guests want full DSTV, please bring your own card/decoder. The closest town to buy supplies such as ice and cigarettes are Hluhluwe and Mkuze.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO MEAL PLAN WITH THESE OPTIONS. CUSTOMERS SUPPLY AND PREPARE THEIR OWN FOOD. WE DO NOT SUPPLY MEALS AT THE RESTAURANT FOR SELF-CATERING GUESTS.

Chalets (non-self-catering units):

4 x Chalets which accommodates 2 adults each (Total – sleeps 8)

African Spirit Game Lodge accommodation is intimate and consists of 4 quaint, fully serviced chalets.

Each comfortable and stylish chalet accommodates 2 people each (twin beds – can be converted into a king size bed or be separated if singles are required) with an en-suite bathroom (showers only), air-conditioner, mini- bar fridge, ceiling fan, tea and coffee facilities. Each chalet has a private veranda where guests can relax in their own privacy and enjoy the tranquillity of the bush. The paths are well-lit and connect the chalets to the main lodge. A single stretcher bed can be added per chalet for children 12 and younger.

Includes Dinner, Bed & Breakfast with 1 Daily Game Drive.
